The holidays are right around the corner, which means a lot of people in the nonprofit world are kicking their productivity into high gear. And while there are a lot of stressors that come with the territory when working for a nonprofit during the holiday season, we can’t help but smile at some of the latest news coming out of Georgia.
Last week our friends at the Georgia Center for Nonprofits announced their decision to move GAgives (formerly known as Georgia Gives Day) to #GivingTuesday.
“Backed by a full-featured online fundraising platform,” remarked Betsy Reid, GCN’s Vice President of Marketing and Communications, in a recent blog post on #GivingTuesday’s website, “GAgives has mobilized a coalition of corporations and foundations, media and creative partners, government agencies, and citizens to raise awareness and support for our communities’ nonprofits.”
We want to extend our congratulations to GCN for making an incredibly bold decision to combine their giving day efforts. Since 2013 we’ve partnered with the GAgives team to raise over $13.4 million during their annual giving day initiatives. And starting November 28, we’re even more thrilled to help them usher in a new era of success within the world of community nonprofits.
#GivingTuesday combines the power of social media presence with the importance of giving during the holiday season. To nonprofits, it also serves as an unofficial introduction to the year-end charitable cycle.
Recent data behind #GivingTuesday’s upward holiday success is indisputable. In 2016, Click & Pledge Causes utilized #GivingTuesday as the fourth most-successful day of fundraising. The top three were December 29-31.
If you’d like to learn more about the increasing social power of #GivingTuesday, you can visit the new GAgives website to see which nonprofits have already registered.
See you on November 28!
